Who We Are
In today’s information-driven world, there are many resources that can help you understand your financial situation: the internet, blogs, podcasts, radio, magazines – even your friends and family. But how do you make sense of all of the information? How do you reconcile opposing opinions and know which one is most appropriate for you? And how do you protect your wealth when you’re confronted with too much information?
You don’t have to do it alone. We can help.
Meet the Team
I always thought I would end up doing something with computers – my childhood was spent on computer games (joy when I got a 133mhz machine!), programming, chess club, and math competitions. I went to college for computer science and ended up taking an economics elective, changing the course of my life. After graduating, I got right to work helping people manage their personal economies. Today, things are different – people have access to, at times bombarded with, a wealth of financial information. While they are capable of doing their own research and coming to their own conclusions about what financial decisions are best for them, they sometimes needs a little guidance to separate the news from the noise. So when we set out to build what we hoped would be the perfect financial planning practice, a goal we still strive for every day, our focus was on education, personal relationships, and behavior coaching.
I live in Raleigh with my wife, Kelly, and my two children, Mallory and Carter. I am still undecided as to which local university to swear allegiance to…
Michael Whitman, MBACo-Founder
What I have tried to accomplish as a financial professional is to assist my clients in making informed financial decisions. Early on in my career I focused mainly on advising retirees to reach their income needs. I have cleaned up many messy situations over the years and have since transitioned my practice to the education of young professionals. My goal is to teach people about their finances so that they can have smoother transitions through all life’s challenges.
I have co-founded this firm to be able to offer unbiased financial assessments. I want to educate clients on their unique situation and clearly review all their options so that they can fully understand the impact of their financial decisions. I truly believe that transparency and integrity are the keys to a successful partnership with my clients.

My whole family works in the financial services industry, so naturally, I started my career in comedy. After a few years in Chicago doing improv and working in production design, I ended up where I belong – in the family business. I have a gift to make people laugh, and help them with their finances! I learned a great deal from my grandfather about doing whats right and helping people protect what’s most important to them. I joined this firm to continue that mission to the best of my ability.
I live in Chapel Hill. I’m an avid sports fan and beer enthusiast.
